Jasmine sambac 'Belle of India' NEW FOR 2012
Jasminum "Sambac Belle of India", an everblooming, very fragrant variety with long slender oval buds which open to pure white double blooms. Heavenly Jasmine scent. Likes warmth and strong light. Upright vining growth habit. Known as Madan Mogra in Hindi and Gundu Malli in Tamil. The "Belle of India" jasmine is a popular flower used in India during worship often offered to Lord Vishnu. The flowers are also used to make garlands and adorn women's hair. Called pikake in Hawaii.

Night Blooming Jasmine -Cestrum nocturnum
Cestrum nocturnum also known as Night Blooming Jasmine, is grown as an ornamental plant for its strongly scented flowers. In India it goes under various names such as Raat ki rani, raatrani, Hasnuhana. Placing a plant indoors while in bloom can scent an entire house. The Nizams of Hyderabad favored a sweet smelling perfume (Ittar, or Attar) made by infusing the petals of this intoxicating flower in oils. A fast growing plant will need trimming back and upgrading of pot size regularly. Plants are >6" tall.

Piper betel plant "Paan Leaf"
Related to black pepper, the paan leaf along with betel nut (Areca catechu) is chewed in Southeast Asia. A slow grower in containers, but will grow rampantly in tropical regions and is often planted at the base of trees which it uses for support. The Paan or betel leaf is also used in religious rituals by Hindus. Black Pepper plant - Piper nigrum
Black pepper (Piper nigrum) is a flowering vine in the family Piperaceae, cultivated for its fruit, which is usually dried and used as a spice and seasoning. The fruit, known as a peppercorn when dried, is dark red when fully mature and contains a single seed. Peppercorns, and the powdered pepper derived from grinding them, is commonly known as black pepper and is found ubiquitously on every dining table. Native to the Malabar coast and Sri Lanka, the black pepper trade has drawn merchants and traders to India for centuries.
