Eggplant (Solanum melongena)

Eggplants come in all shapes, sizes and colors and are prized in the Indian kitchen.  These scrumptious eggplants are easy to grow and are great in curries, roasted as in baingan bhartha, coated in chick pea flour and deep fried as a pakora.  Known in Hindi as baingan, in Indian-English as brinjals, and in England as aubergines, it will do well in your garden if you can grow tomatoes.
