Green Cowpea - Suman Cowpea (Vigna unguiculata) is thought to have orinated in India. They spread to the Mediterranean and into Africa, and eventually made it to the Americas during the slave trade. In the U.S. different varieties are known as black-eyed peas and crowder peas. In India they are also known as Chauli, Karamani, Vanpayar, and Lobia and is served as a sidedish.
