Canna indica "South Pacific-Orange" is an (2018 AAS) award winning dwarf hybrid that is propogated from seed, so it is resistant to rhizome related ailments. This variety thrives in hot and humid conditions and is known to produce eye catching 4 inch flowers throughout the enitre summer season if in the right conditions. These plants grow to an average height of 2-2.5ft tall. They are a great addition to any garden, indoor or out!
Canna seeds have traditionally been used to make ornamental beads for jewelry. In Indonesia, it i commonly referred to as the prayer bead flower, as its seeds are perfect for Buddhist mala's. The rhizomes contain a sweet tasting edible starch, that now through its commercial cultivation is used to make things from vermicelli, to white wine. As a more recenlt innovation, this starch has been utilized to make biodegradable plastic products.
